It’s been raining forever today. Okay, just all day long.
Endless rain.
I would say that it’s been raining cats and dogs, but I’m not feeling lame tonight, so I won’t.
And, truth be told, the rain doesn’t seem lame either. It’s soothing and peaceful. Or maybe it just seems peaceful because the house is quiet except for the soft patter of raindrops hitting the rooftop. The husband, exhausted after working 12 hours today, hit the hay early and the boys are entranced with their latest video game.
All is quiet. It’s just me, the rain, the low hum of my laptop’s fan, the clicking of the keyboard, and my thoughts. Peace and quiet is a scarcity in the house of never-ending noise and activity. Scarce, but welcome.
Now, there was a time (my twenties) when staying inside on a Saturday night would have been a last resort. And although those days of endless parties and clubbing are not actually all that long ago, they feel like an eternity or another lifetime ago.
And far removed from the person I am this endless rainy night.
I enjoy a good spring rain when it rains straight down. You're right it is peaceful and cleansing. I like your school books. I await the next lesson.
