Hey now, hey now! The husband is back from his fishing excursion in Canada. He drove all night to get home in time to make it to a party a friend is throwing tonight. He arrived home around noon and has been sleeping since shortly after his arrival. I made him shower, of course, and I made him lunch. But I haven’t seen him since. And do you think we’ll make it to our friend’s party? I think not.
In fact, when he first mentioned his plan to drive overnight and still attend the party I knew it was a pipe dream. After eight years of living with the man, I have learned that he really needs his sleep. I know this about him and for the most part I find it mildly amusing. It can; however, sometimes cause problems. Sometimes sleep deprivation is a way of life To give you an idea of how bad it is, in the past my MIL has actually asked me whether he’s taken a nap because of his surly mood.
Yes, him mom has asked if he’s had a nap and he’s 32 years old. I hope I never have to ask a future daughter-in-law if my 30 something year old son has taken a nap. That’s all I have to say about that.
Where was I going with all this? Oh yeah, truth be told I really don’t mind that we’re currently missing the Party of the Summer. I just don’t feel very social. In fact, after I post this I’m going to bounce into the kitchen and prepare my famous Italian Chicken and Rice, Salad with Feta-Cheese, and Garlic Bread. Then we’re going to head to the movies for a late showing of which we have not fully decided. It will be either Terminal or the Stepford Wives. Or something.
