I think my clock radio is from Mexico. It’s a standard alarm clock with a feature to set it to wake you with music. For some reason, it likes to default to a Latino radio station.
Now, I’m pretty diverse in my taste of music. I listen to a lot of different genres of music ranging from country to urban. But since I do not speak Spanish, Latino music is not on the list. That is, it wasn’t on the list until recently. It seems that whenever my clock radio loses power, which is all too often between power outages and the accidental disconnection from the power source while recharging a laptop, cell phone, or PDA, it defaults to a pre-selected station.
The pre-selected station happens to be the only Latino station in our area. And because we don’t speak the language, it’s an interesting choice of music for the first thing in the morning. Not a bad choice, necessarily—just different.
Of course, it’s a rather appropriate choice for the Cinco De Mayo. My clock radio has it going on, I tell you!
