Pretty in pink and plum, that describes my latest project. I've managed a few pattern repeats since this shot, but here's a peek:
It's the Bundle of Joy Blanket (PDF) in Lion Brand Wool-Ease in Blush Heather 104 (around the border) and Dark Rose Heather 139. I selected this yarn from my stash because it is machine washable, which I consider a requirement for a baby blanket. I'm happy to begin another project from stash yarn and I'm happy with the way this project is shaping up. I'm hoping to finish this blanket by the end of the month.
I'm not sure if this is a realistic goal as I'm not a good judge of such things. I can tell you that I find myself a bit nostalgic as I work on this project, which could have something to do with the fact that my babies are no longer babies, or it could be that I never had the opportunity to make them anything pink, or maybe it's because this yarn marks the beginning of my stash. It was purchased before I discovered my first local yarn store, when I only shopped at Michael's and JoAnn's.
Ahhhhh. The age of innocence. Before the madness. Before I began purchasing yarn as though I were stocking the shelves of my own local yarn store. And since I'm still "shopping" there, I guess I was stocking my own private yarn store.
It's only fitting that the blanket for an innocent new babe is knit from yarn purchased by an innocent and naive knitter. Okay, the innocent knitter thing is probably debatable, but I definitely fit the naive part.
"The age of innocence. Before the madness." Isn't that the truth--I have some of that very same yarn(the premadness kind). Just passing through on Stashalong patrol--have a great week!!
