The Bundle of Joy Baby Blanket and I are ON A BREAK! We each have our own reasons behind the difficult decision.
The blanket declared me a terrible knitter and laughed out loud at my efforts to pick up stitches along the side panel. Of course, this laughter only occurred after it tricked me into thinking everything would be fine and allowed me to knit the entire three-inches of garter stitch. As I was binding off, it became abundantly clear that I did not pick up enough stitches as the ends curved in on each side of the blanket. The blanket tried to say it was laughing with me, but I know better because I wasn't laughing.
The blanket decided to go its own way (to the WIP basket). And I've been going mine.
In fact, I found the perfect rebound project. It's everything one looks for when on a break. It's fast and easy as in it can be knit in mere hours. It's wild 'n crazy and lots of fun to be around with its bright, cheerful colors. And when you're tired of it, just move on to the next one--no commitment necessary!
The On a Break Bag or Clutch
This bag is designed to be knit as either a bag with handles or as a clutch with a fastened flap.
I love, repeat LOVE, this bag of yours. The colors are GLORIOUS, and the lining makes it look so... professional! And I totally understand the need for a rebound, or hiatus, project. I usually throw a few in during the life span of a long project. I've really been fighting it with the hourglass--I'm struggling to not cheat. I'm almost done... I can do it...

It's not cheating. It's an important break. And a really really nice bag.

On the blanket edgeing, measure the gauge before you frog the edge. Pick up as many stitches as you can and increase on the next row to get the number you need.
